PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 253, July 23, 1973

[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 253, July 23, 1973 ]

AMENDING PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 229, DATED JUNE 28, 1973.

President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution as Commander-in-Chief of all the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and pursuant to Proclamation No. 1081, dated September 21, 1972, and General Order No. 1, dated September 22, 1972, do hereby order and decree:

SECTION 1. Section 17 of Presidential Decree No. 229, dated June 28, 1973, is hereby amended by adding thereto the following paragraphs:

"aa). Any person who sells, furnishes, offers or takes intoxicating liquors on the day of the referendum.

"bb). Any person who, on the day of the referendum, holds cockfights, boxing, horse races, jai-alai or any other similar sports."

SEC. 2. This Decree shall take effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 23rd day of July, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-three.
