NEW DOH HOSPITAL CATEGORIES BASED ON SERVICE CAPABILITY

Pursuant to the DOH Administrative Order No. 2005-0029 amending Administrative Order No. 147, S. 2004 Re: Revised Rules and Regulations Governing the Registration, Licensure and Operation of Hospitals and Other Health Facilities in the Philippines, categories of hospital based on their service capability have been changed effective January 2006.

The equivalent change of hospital categories for DOH and PhilHealth are as follows:

PhilHealth Hospital Category AO 0029, s. 2005 (DOH)

Primary Level 1

Secondary Level 2

Tertiary Level 3

Level 4 (Teaching and Training Hospital)

However, all PhilHealth benefit claims shall be reimbursed according to the old PhilHealth hospital category.
