AMENDMENTS TO MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 10-7-98 RE: RULES, REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STCW - 95 CONCERNING RADIO PERSONNEL AND RADIO TRAINING SCHOOLS OFFERING GMDDS RADIOCOMMUNICATION COURSE
Further to the provisions of Memorandum Circular No. 10-7-98, the Commission hereby amends No. 2 paragraph 2.1.3. and 2.3.5, respectively, to read as follows:
“2.1.3. No application for renewal of a certificate shall be acted upon unless accompanied by a certificate of employment from a shipping company or recognized radio training school (RTS) for at least one (1) year.”
2.3.5 The RTS who fails to maintain a 70% passing of NTC examinations of its graduates on a yearly basis shall be temporarily suspended from offering GMDSS radiocommunication courses effective from the start of the year following the year when deficiency was noted. The Commission, within forty-five (45) days from start of suspension, shall re-evaluate and recommend necessary corrective measures to improve the quality of teaching of said RTS.”
With the above amendments, all other provisions in Memorandum Circular No. 10-7-98 stand.
