PLACING THE NATIONAL PROGRAM FOR UNIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL UNDER THE OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS , a comprehensive peace process was launched by the government for the attainment of a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the country,

WHEREAS , there is a need for the Presidency to provide active leadership in the pursuit of the comprehensive peace process.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS , President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. The National Program for Unification and Development Council established under Executive Order No. 152 dated January 21, 1994 is hereby placed directly under the Office of the Executive Secretary.

SEC. 2. The National Program for Unification and Development Council established for the purpose shall now be composed of the following:

a.

The Executive Secretary

Chairman

b.

The Secretary of the Interior and Local Government

Member

c.

The Secretary of National Defense

Member

d.

The Secretary of Social Welfare and Development

Member

e.

The Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process

Member

The Secretary concerned, in case of incapacity, illness, or other justifiable reasons, may be represented in the Council by his senior undersecretary.

SEC. 3. Executive Order No. 152 dated January 21, 1994, as amended, is hereby amended accordingly.

SEC. 4. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.
