[ MEMORANDUM, May 25, 2018 ]

ADVANCE RENEWAL OF DRIVER’S LICENSES AND MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND VALIDITY OF MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION REPORT (MVIR) FOR PRIVATE MOTOR VEHICLES WITH YEAR MODEL FIVE (5) YEARS AND BELOW

Adopted: 11 March 2018

Date Filed: 25 May 2018

With the issuance of five year validity Driver’s License (DL) cards and with the strict implementation of motor vehicle roadworthiness inspection prior to registration, this Office has received numerous complaints about long queues at licensing offices and congestion at Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers.

To address such concerns and to give the public reasonable time to transact, the following guidelines are hereby promulgated:

1. Advance motor vehicle registration and DL renewals shall be allowed two (2) months prior to expiration.

2. The validity of the MVIR shall be extended from two (2) months to six (6) months from actual inspection for private, government and diplomatic motor vehicles with year model five (5) years and below.

All previous issuances/orders inconsistent herewith are deemed repealed/ superseded.

For your guidance and strict compliance.

(SGD) EDGAR C. GALVANTE Assistant Secretary
