[ POEA GOVERNING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 01, S. 2012, January 13, 2012 ]
IMPOSING A TOTAL DEPLOYMENT BAN ON SOUTH SUDAN
WHEREAS, Section 5 of Republic Act No. 10022, authorizes the POEA Governing Board, after consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), to impose a ban on the deployment of migrant workers in pursuit of the national interest or when public welfare so requires;
WHEREAS, the DFA has raised the crisis alert level in South Sudan to alert level 3 due to the deteriorating security situation caused by inter-ethnic violence in the country and accordingly requests the imposition of a total deployment ban in South Sudan;
NOW THEREFORE, the POEA Governing Board, in a meeting duly convened, RESOLVES AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to impose a total deployment ban on South Sudan until such time that is has been determined that its political and security situation has normalized.
The POEA is hereby authorized to issue an Advisory on the subject for the information and guidance of all concerned.
