PASTEURIZED FRESH MILK AND OTHER DAIRY PRODUCTS DO NOT POSE ANY RISK IN THE TRANSMISSION OF FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE
Attached is the 1st indorsement ( Text available at ONAR, U.P. Law Center ) dated April 10, 2001 of Mr. Simeon S. Amurao, Chief, Veterinary Quarantine Service, BAl, South Harbor endorsing a copy of Memorandum dated April 3, 2001 informing that as per Office international des Epizooties Animal Health Code; fresh milk and other dairy products are not included in the ban (MO 5, s. 2001) as long as these products have been inactivated using any of the following procedures:
ultra-high temperature (UHT) (UHT = minimum temperature at 132°C for at least 1 second);
double high temperature - short time pasteurization (HTST) (72°C for at least 15 seconds);
HTST combined with another physical treatment, e.g., maintaining a pH-6 for at least 1 hour or additional heating to at least 72°C combined with dessication.
