AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 357, SERIES OF 1996, WHICH APPROVED THE ALLOCATION OF A FIVE PERCENT SHARE FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS FROM THE LOTTO CHARITY FUND AND PROVIDING A SHARING SCHEME THEREFOR

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 357, series of 1996, approved the grant of a five (5%) percent share from the thirty (30%) percent Lotto Charity Fund in favor of local government units where lotto tickets are sold;

WHEREAS, Section 2 of the aforesaid executive order granted five percent (5%) share to cities and another five (5%) percent to be shared on a 3:2 ratio between the lotto host municipality concerned and its province;

WHEREAS, there is a need to amend the executive order in order to rationalize the sharing and distribution scheme to the concerned LGUs.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend Sections 1 and 2 of Executive Order No. 357, series of 1996, to read as follows:

“SECTION 1. Approval of Grant to LGUs. A proportionate grant from the thirty percent (30%) Lotto Charity Fund in favor of local government units where lotto tickets are sold, to the applicable provisions on the use thereof under RA No. 1169, is hereby approved.

SEC. 2. Sharing of Funds by LGUs. The local government units concerned shall receive their share of the Lotto Charity Fund under this executive order, as follows:

1 Municipalities – seven (7%) percent to be shared on a 5:2 ratio between the municipality concerned and its province; and

2. Cities – five (5%) percent.”

This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 7 th day of October in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Six.
