EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 203 - PROVIDING A LIST OF REGULAR HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL DAYS TO BE OBSERVED THROUGHOUT THE PHILIPPINES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, a Cabinet Assistance Secretariat Committee was constituted to review all existing public holidays;

WHEREAS, there are too many holidays being observed which has caused confusion among the public.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. Unless otherwise modified by law, order or proclamation, the following regular holidays and special days shall be observed in this country:

A. Regular Holidays

New Year’s Day ---------------January 1

Maundy Thursday -------------- Movable date

Good Friday ------------------- Movable date

Araw ng Kagitingan ( Bataan and Corregidor Day) -------------- April 9

Labor Day -------------------- May 1

Independence Day ------------ June 12

National Heroes Day ---------- Last Sunday of August

Bonifacio Day ----------------- November 30

Christmas Day ---------------- December 25

Rizal Day --------------------- December 30

B. Nationwide Special Days

All Saints Day ---------------- November 1

Last Day of the Year --------- December 31

SEC. 2. Henceforth, the terms “legal or regular holiday” and “special holiday”, as used in laws, orders, rules and regulations or other issuances shall now be referred to as “regular holiday” and “special day”, respectively.

SEC. 3. All laws, orders, issuances, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with this Executive Order are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

SEC. 4. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 30th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-seven.
