[ PPA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR No. 37-98, August 20, 1998 ]

BAGGING SERVICE RATE

Pursuant to article VII, Sec. 20 of P.D. 857 and in order to provide an official and uniform rate for bagging service in all ports under the jurisdiction of the authority, the following guidelines are hereby prescribed:

1 Bagging Rate

P50, 000 per metric ton shall be the official rate chargeable for bagging service rendered in all PPA authorized ports in the country. This rate is inclusive of standard bagging equipment such as hopper, sewing machine, weighing scale, etc.

2. Terms and Conditions

2.1 Sacks/bags shall be provided by the shippers/consignees.

2.2 Activities for bagging service/operation shall cover the loading of cargo from the hopper to empty sacks/bags and weighing and sewing of sacks.

2.3 If the cargo handled is classified as " dangerous cargo ", a corresponding premium will be applied to the regular rate as specified in PPA Admin. Order Nos. 02-89and 01-90.

3 Government Share

Bagging service operators in government port shall remit to the Authority a government share of not less than ten percent (10%) of their gross income derived from such service. They shall remit to PPA this share, in addition to the government share from cargo handling services revenue as provided for in their contracts.

4 Effectivity

This Circular shall take effect immediately.
