[ BFAD BUREAU CIRCULAR NO. 12-A, S. 1999, June 11, 1999 ]

WITHDRAWAL FROM THE MARKET OF PRODUCTS SUSPECTED TO BE TAINTED WITH MEAT AND OTHER MATERIALS CONTAINING DIOXIN

In view of the alarming news that there are food products coming from Belgium and other countries suspected to be tainted with dioxin, manufacturers, distributors/importers of processed meat products, dairy products containing more than 2% animal fat, eggs, egg powder, milk products, products using egg powder, and other related products whose raw materials originated from Belgium and other suspected countries that used dioxin-contaminated feeds for cattle, poultry and others to temporarily withdraw from the market all subject food products and for them to market the same until confirmed to use free of dioxin.

This is intended to ensure the accountability for the quality and safety of subject food products in the interest of consumer protection.

Adopted: 11 June 1999

(SGD.) WILLIAM D. TORRES, PH.D. Director
