AMENDING MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 124 ON THE REVISED CLASSIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VESSELS IN THE DOMESTIC TRADE

Please be informed that in its meeting held on 18 February 1998, the MARINA Board approved the following amendment to Section 1 of Memorandum Circular No. 124, as follows:

“I. VESSELS TO BE ACQUIRED UNDER MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 104:

The following vessels intended for acquisition under Memorandum Circular No. 104 must be classed or classed by any classification society recognized by government as of the time of their acquisition:

a. Passenger and/or cargo vessels 500 GT and above;

b. Tankers and barges hauling petroleum, petroleum by-products, chemicals and other hazardous cargoes.”

The amendment of said Circular shall take effect immediately upon its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
