[ PHILRACOM RESOLUTION NO. 25 - 13, June 05, 2013 ]

AMENDMENT TO PR 29-I. MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF JOCKEYS

WHEREAS , under PR 29-I of the Rules and Regulations Governing Horse Racing Participants all jockey shall undergo medical examination twice a year; WHEREAS , the jockeys undergo regular monitoring and medical check-up before they ride;

WHEREAS , such medical check-up before a jockey rides a horse is sufficient enough to offset the bi-annual medical check-up of jockeys;

WHEREAS , the Jockeys' Association would like to focus their resources and funds instead to quarterly drug screening of their members;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as it is HEREBY RESOLVED that all jockeys shall undergo medical check-up once a year in December;

RESOLVED FURTHER that PR 29-I be amended so that the same shall read as follows:

PR 29-I. MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF JOCKEYS

All jockeys shall undergo medical examination once a year in December to be conducted by the Physician designated by PHILRACOM, and the latter shall be guided by the findings therein in determining the jockeys' fitness to continue riding race horses.
