[ LTFRB MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 2002-018, December 26, 2002 ]
TWENTY (20%) PERCENT MARGIN BETWEEN REGULAR AND AIR-CONDITIONED BUS FARES
To check the unfair and cutthroat competition between operators of regular/ordinary buses and air-con bus operators, the DOTC issued Department Order No. 2002-77 dated 05 December 2002 setting a margin of twenty (20%) percent between regular/ordinary bus fares and air-con bus fares, directing this Board to issue the corresponding standard fare advisory for the purpose. Pursuant to the said DOTC policy directive, air-con bus fares should be at least twenty (20%) percent higher than ordinary/regular bus fares.
In accordance with this memorandum circular, it shall be deemed a violation of the terms and conditions of the Certificates of Public Convenience of air-con bus operators to charge air-con fares below this mandated twenty (20%) percent margin of difference with ordinary/regular bus fares, warranting the imposition of the appropriate sanctions or penalties.
This Memorandum Circular shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its due publication under Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 11 dated October 9, 1992.
