AMENDING SECTION 2 OF FISHERIES ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 169, S. 1990 BY PROVIDING EXCEPTION FOR GOVERNMENT/QUALIFIED RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO EXPORT FRESH EUCHEUMA SEAWEEDS

SECTION 1. Section 2 of Fisheries Administrative Order No. 169, s. 1990 is hereby amended to read as follows:

"SECTION 2. Prohibition - It shall be unlawful for any person, association, partnership or corporation to export or cause to be exported from the Philippines fresh Eucheuma : Provided, However, that the Secretary of Agriculture upon recommendation of the Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources may grant a special permit to government/qualified research or collegiate educational institutions, free of charge, to export fresh Eucheuma seaweeds not exceeding one (1) kilo for scientific and/or educational purposes, subject to such terms and conditions as may be imposed.

SECTION 2. Effectivity - This Administrative order shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette and/or in two (2) newspapers of general circulation.
