DEADLINE ON THE RETAKING OF NULLIFIED SUBJECTS IN THE JUNE 2002 BOARD LICENSURE EXAMINATIONS FOR MARINE DECK OFFICERS

WHEREAS, the Professional Regulation Commission, issued Res. No. 2002-77, dated November 29, 2002, nullifying the results in some subjects for the three (3) ranks in the June 2002 Board for Marine Deck Officers Licensure Examinations, and allowing the examinees therein to RE TAKE the said nullified subject/s ONCE in any scheduled examination and the results therein together with those in the June 2002 examinations;

WHEREAS, the above-mentioned Resolution does not state the deadline for the retaking of the concerned subjects; and

WHEREAS, with the passage of five (5) years from the first schedule of retaking the subjects, there is now a valid need to set up the deadline therefor in order to enable the other examinees to avail themselves thereof;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board RESOLVES, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to allow, the examinees in the June 2002 Board Licensure Examinations for Marine Deck Officers to take their nullified subjects in the three (3) ranks on or before the first scheduled regular examinations in the year 2009: A) Master Mariner: 1. General Ship Knowledge and Cargo Operations and 2. Safety, Maintenance and Emergency Procedure; B) Chief Mate: 1. Safety Maintenance and Emergency Operations; C) Officer-in-Charge of a Navigational Watch: 1. General Ship Knowledge and Cargo Operations and 2. Collision Regulations and Maritime Laws; and to disallow the examinees who will unable to do so from retaking the concerned subject/s after the foregoing deadline schedule and, accordingl y, to declare their passed subjects in the June 2002 examination as FAILED.

FURTHER, RESOLVED, to require the foregoing examinees to take all the three (3) FUNCTION SUBJECTS starting either in the Second Scheduled Regular Examination in the year 2009, or the WALK-IN Examination.

This Resolution shall be effective after fifteen (15) days following its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette, or any newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.

Let copy hereof be furnished to the Marine Deck Officers Division, the Examination Division, and the PRC Regional Offices, the Master and Mates Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MMAP), and the concerned examinees in the List of those who have not retaken their nullified subjects.
