PROHIBITION AGAINST BRINGING CORALS OUT OF THE COUNTRY

Attached is the letter dated November 8, 1999 of Special Assistant Bayani Mangibin, Head of CAD, Department of Foreign Affairs concerning the case of Fr. Efren Arela and Mr. Porfirio Calinao, both Filipinos who were charged and assessed fines of over US$2,000.00 for bringing pieces of corals into Italy without proper documentation.

In this regard, the Philippine Embassy in Italy recommends that departing Filipinos for Italy be informed accordingly of the prohibition against bringing corals out of the country.
