[ PROCLAMATION NO. 86, February 26, 1963 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MARCH 17 TO 23, 1963, AS “WORLD FREEDOM FROM HUNGER WEEK”

WHEREAS, the problems of world hunger and underdevelopment are assuming major proportions;

WHEREAS, the Philippine National Committee on Freedom from Hunger Campaign was created under Administrative Order No. 26, dated October 3, 1962, for the purpose of assisting in the United Nations’ collective effort to eradicate the twin evils of hunger and malnutrition from the world; and

WHEREAS, to arouse public awareness and interest in this Campaign, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has invited the Philippines, together with other member nations, to proclaim the period from March 17 to 23, 1963, as “World Freedom from Hunger Week;

NOW, THEREFORE, I Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim, the period from March 17 to March 23, 1963, as “World Freedom from Hunger Week.”

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 26th day of February, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-three.
