MODIFYING MARINA ADVISORY NO. 2012-14, SERIES OF 2012, IMPOSING A MORATORIUM ON THE ACCREDITATION OF NEW TRAINING COURSES

This has reference to MARINA Advisory No. 2012-14, Series of 2012 Imposing a Moratorium on the Accreditation of new training courses. In view of the implementation of the new courses required by the 2010 STCW Manila Amendments, the above moratorium is hereby modified as follows:

Existing and new maritime training institutions shall be allowed to apply for accreditation only for the new courses mentioned below:

1.1

Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-1, para 1 & 2)

1.2

Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-1, para 3 & 4)

1.3

Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-1, para 5 & 6)

1.4

Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-2, para 1 & 2)

1.5

Advanced Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-2, para 3 & 4)

1.6

Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (Section A-VI/6 para. 6) with Security Awareness Training (Section A-VI/6, para 4);

1.7

Able Seafarer Deck (Reg. II/5)

1.8

Able Seafarer Engine (Reg. III/5)

1.9

Electro-technical Officer (Reg. III/6)

1.10

1.10 Electro-technical Ratings (Reg. III/7)

Those pending applications for accreditation of new courses already filed after the issuance of Moratorium shall be considered by MARINA.

This Advisory shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation. The MARINA Advisory No. 2012-14, Series of 2012 is hereby superseded or modified accordingly.
