[ PROCLAMATION NO. 1605, August 28, 2008 ]

DECLARING SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2008, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF ILOCOS NORTE

WHEREAS , Saturday, September 20, 2008, marks the "Josefa Llanes Escoda Day" in the Province of Ilocos Norte;

WHEREAS , Josefa Llanes Escoda is regarded and recognized as a national heroine due to her heroic deeds during World War II;

WHEREAS , it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte, be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Saturday, September 20, 2008, as special (non-working) day in the Province of Ilocos Norte.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 28th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Eight.
