[ MTC RESOLUTION NO. 4, S. 2011, June 09, 2011 ]

THE REVISED MANAGEMENT LEVEL COURSES FOR MARINE DECK AND ENGINEER OFFICERS

WHEREAS, the approved education and training required under Regulations II/2 and III/3 of the 1978 STCW Convention, as amended, otherwise known as the Management Level Course (MLC) for the Marine Deck and Engineer Officers were adopted for implementation under MTC Resolution No. 03, Series of 2005.

WHEREAS, above-mentioned resolution provides that the Management Level Courses shall be kept under constant review and updated as the need arises.

WHEREAS, during the review of the Management Level Courses in accordance with the Quality Standards Procedure, it was found out that certain competencies and Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency (KUPs) were omitted in the approved syllabi.

WHEREAS, a Technical Working Group for Marine Deck and Engineer Officers (TWG) were convened to review and revise the Management Level Courses with the view of improving and updating the courses to ensure compliance with the requirements of the STCW Convention.

WHEREAS, the Council has read the text of the revised/Management Level Courses for the Marine Deck and Engineer Officers submitted by the TWG and finds the same to be in compliance with the requirements of the STCW Convention.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council RESOLVES, as it is hereby, RESOLVED, to APPROVE the revisions in the Management Level Courses.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the training providers shall be required to make use of the revised Management Level Courses for Marine Deck and Engineer Officers (Annexes A * and B * ) effective 31 August 2011.

RESOLVED FINALLY, that the training providers shall be furnished a copy of this Resolution for their guidance.

This Resolution shall be effective fifteen (15) days after its complete publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
