[ PROCLAMATION NO. 309, April 01, 1952 ]

DECLARING THE SECOND WEEK OF JULY OF EVERY YEAR AS NATIONAL SAFETY AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION WEEK.

WHEREAS, in this period of rehabilitation it is imperative that we preserve our manpower and conserve our material wealth;

WHEREAS, the progressive industrialization of our country has increased hazards in workplaces with the consequent rise of accident frequency;

WHEREAS, only heavy financial losses that adversely economic stability of the country but also untold human sufferings and tragedies that cause dislocation in our social life;

WHEREAS, to minimize such accidents, it is necessary that steps be taken towards making the people safety-conscious;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the second week of July of every year as National Safety and Accident Prevention Week.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this first day of April, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-two, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the sixth.
