UPGRADING THE BENEFITS UNDER THE SUGAR WORKERS DEATH BENEFIT PROGRAM

In response to the clamor of sugar workers and their beneficiaries, and upon establishing the viability of upgrading the death benefit provided under the Social Amelioration Program in the Sugar Industry (RA 6982) based on the study conducted by the Bureau of Rural Workers (BRW), the Sugar Tripartite Council (STC) endorses the grant of increase in the death benefit from P 5,000 to P 6,000, effective September 1, 2000 (CY 2000-2001).

In view hereof, all claims for death benefit under said program for covered sugar workers whose demise occur on September 1, 2000 onwards shall be paid the P 6,000 benefit. This Order shall not preclude the grant of other increases in the future.
