UPDATE ON THE RESTRICTED LABOR MARKETS AND SKILLS
The POEA wishes to reiterate that the following markets are still included in the list of restricted markets and skills where deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to the following countries is prohibited, either totally or for a particular skill category only, due to:
I. UNSTABLE PEACE AND ORDER SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY
ASIA
- Afghanistan
There is a total ban on the deployment of OFWs to this country.
AFRICA
- Nigeria
a. The ban includes the entry of Filipino seafarers to Nigeria onboard vessels on liner service calling on Nigeria ports.
b. Workers-on-leave/balik-manggagawa workers are exempted from the ban.
MIDDLE EAST
- Iraq
There is total ban on the deployment of OFWs to this country.
- Lebanon
There is total ban on the deployment of OFWs to this country.
II. WORKING CONDITIONS
MIDDLE EAST
- Jordan
The deployment of newly-hired household service workers (HSWs) is temporarily suspended. However, balik-manggagawa HSW’s returning to the same employer are exempted from the ban, provided that their salary shall not be lower than the prescribed monthly pay for HSWs of $400.00.
