[ PROCLAMATION NO. 359, October 09, 2023 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, 30 OCTOBER 2023, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, in Macalintal v. Commission on Elections (G.R. No. 263590, 263673, 27 June 2023), the Supreme Court rules that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections set on the last Monday of October 2023 shall proceed as scheduled;

WHEREAS, it is imperative that the people be given the full opportunity to participate in the said elections and exercise their right of suffrage.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, , FERDINAND R,. MARCOS, JR., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, 30 October 2023, as special (non-working) day throughout the country.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
