[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 943, June 10, 1976 ]

CHANGING THE NAME OF THE STO. TOMAS-BATANGAS CITY-NASUGBU ROAD TO "PRESIDENT LAUREL HIGHWAY."

WHEREAS , among the illustrious leaders of the country whose name is revered by all Filipinos is the late President Jose P. Laurel, Sr., the beloved son of the province of Batangas; and

WHEREAS , it has been the tradition of the Filipino people to name important buildings, bridges and highways after illustrious leaders of the country to perpetuate their names and memories;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS , President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree:

SECTION 1 . The name of the present road traversing Sto. Tomas, Batangas City and Nasugbu, now called the Sto. Tomas-Batangas City-Nasugbu Road, is hereby changed to "PRESIDENT LAUREL HIGHWAY."

SEC. 2 . This Decree shall take effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 10th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-six.
