CLASSIFICATION OF CATHINONE AS A PROHIBITED DRUG
Pursuant to the powers vested in the Dangerous Drugs Board under Section 36(a), Article VIII of Republic Act No. 6425, as amended, the Dangerous Drugs Board hereby classifies and places in the list of Prohibited Drugs the following:
Cathinone , a major psychoactive component of the KHAT plant (Cathaedulis) and chemically identified as (-)-alpha-amino-propiophenone.
This Regulation amends Board Regulation No. 4, Series of 1987 and shall, in accordance with Section 40(3), Article X of RA 6425, as amended, take effect fifteen (15) days from the date of its second publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
