THEFT OF CASH IN THE AMOUNTS OF US$ 17 MILLION AND HK$ 35 MILLION IN HONGKONG ON 12 JULY 1991
For your reference and guidance, attached is a copy of the letter of Interpol Manila dated August 3, 1995, transmitting the letter of Interpol General Secretariat regarding the theft of cash in the amounts of US$ 17 million and HK$ 35 million in transit in Hongkong on July 12, 1991. Interpol General Secretariat requests that the Interpol Hongkong and the General Secretariat be informed should any of the stolen banknotes be recovered or any details be known about the identity of the offenders.
Please advise all your branches and offices accordingly.

Attached is a message from ICPO General Secretariat reporting a theft of cash in transit in Hongkong on 12 July 1991, taking a total of 17 million USD and 35 million HKD which was the property of the "Republic National Bank of New York".
We are requested to pass on this information to banks and other financial institutions in our country and to inform them and INTERPOL Hongkong should any of the stolen banknotes be recovered or any details be known about the identity of the offenders.
The serial numbers of the 16.55 million USD in notes which have not been recovered are also attached.
Your prompt action and early response on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Interpol General Secretariat
Interpol Hongkong has asked the General Secretariat to report the theft of cash in transit which took place in Hongkong on 12th July 1991.
The thieves escaped with a total of USD 17 million and HKD 35 million. The money was the property of the "Republic National Bank of New York" and was insured by Lloyd's Underwriters of London.
The serial numbers of the USD 16.55 million in notes which have not been recovered are given overleaf.
NCBs are requested to pass on this information to banks and other financial institutions in their countries.
Should any of the stolen banknotes be recovered or any details be known about the identity of the offenders, please inform Interpol Hongkong and the General Secretariat.
