SUBJECT
SUSPENSION OF ATTY. AUGUSTO GATMAYTAN FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW FOR SIX (6) MONTHS
In the Decision of the Third Division of the Supreme Court, G. R. No. 123332 (Augusto Gatmaytan vs. Court of Appeals and Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company) dated February 3, 1997, Atty. Augusto Gatmaytan was suspended from the practice of law for a period of six (6) months, effective from finality of that judgment. The implementation of the suspension was however delayed in view of the numerous motions filed by petitioner.
Finally, in its resolution dated August 16, 1999, the Third Division resolved:
"WHEREFORE, IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING and considering that this case has already been considered closed and terminated in the Resolution of August 11, 1997, petitioner's suspension from the practice of law for a period of six (6) months shall commence to run from date of payment of the fine"
It appears from the records that Atty. Gatmaytan paid the fine only on August 10, 1999.
For the information and guidance of all concerned.
August 17., 1999.
