Implementation of EU Entry/Exit System (EES) effective 12 October

Union (EU) will be implementing the Entry/Exit System (EES) starting 12 October The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) informs the public that the European
2025. The EES is a centralized, automated system that will gradually replace the
area for short stays (90 to 180 days). It is designed to improve border security, manual stamping of passports for non-EU nationals entering or exiting the Schengen streamline immigration procedures, and reduce delays at points of entry.
Under the EES, all non-EU travelers, including OFWs, will be required to register biometric data including facial scans and fingerprints along with passport details. The data will be securely stored for a period of three (3)years and will be used for future entries into the Schengen zone, removing the need to repeat the registration process on subsequent visits.

Following the rollout of the EES, the European Travel Authorisation and Information System (ETIAS) is expected to be introduced in late 2026. Further details on ETIAS will be announced once finalized.
