REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2253 - AN ACT CREATING A DIVISION AND ADDITIONAL POSITIONS IN THE GENERAL AUDITING OFFICE AND PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION THEREOF.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippinnes in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. There is hereby created a Division under the Office of the Auditor General, General Auditing Office, to be known as the Control and Review Division, with the following positions and appropriation for its operation:

I. PERSONNEL SERVICES

One chief of division P7200

One assistant chief of division 6,600

Two legal officers at P5,400 per annum 10,800

Four legal officers at P4,800 per annum 9,600

One confidential assistant 4,800

One legal officers at P3,960 per annum 15,840

One civil engineer 6,000

One mechanical engineer 6,000

One electrical engineer 6,000

One architect 4,800

One stenographer 2,400

Two stenographers at P1,800 per annum 3,600

Two drivers at P1,800 per annum 3,600

One laborer-filer ___1,440

Total for personnel services

P88,680

II. MAINTENANCE AND OTHER OPERATING EXPENSES

Travel expenses _P30.000

SEC. 2. The following additional positions are hereby created to augment the present force of the Program Unit f said Office:

Five auditors at P4,800 per annum P 24,000

Five auditors at P3,960 per annum __19,800

SEC. 3. There is hereby appropriated, out of any in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the amount of seventy-five thousand two hundred pesos to carry out the provisions of the Act for the current fiscal year and the amount of one hundred sixty-seven thousand four hundred eighty pesos for the fiscal year nineteen hundred sixty. The corresponding appropriation for the succeeding fiscal years shall be included in the General Appropriation Acts for such years.

SEC. 4. Any savings realized in the appropriation authorized in this Act at the end of the fiscal year may be used by the Auditor General in strengthening his Office.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
