AUTHORIZING THE CONDUCT OF A FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION ON PUBLIC PERCEPTION ON THE JUDICIARY AND THE ATTENDANCE OF SELECTED PERSONNEL THEREIN

The Asia Foundation, under its Legal Accountability and Dispute Resolution (LADR) Project, will be implementing a Public Opinion Survey on Courts which will be conducted together with the Social Weather Station (SWS) and is expected to lead to the following:

higher quality of public discourse on, and media coverage of judicial reform issues;

greater efficiency and effectiveness in the coordination of efforts by the courts and civil society to inform and educate the public about judicial impartiality and accountability;

higher citizens expectations in their interface with the judiciary; and

increased positive pressures for judicial systems reform.

The survey research also hopes to provide new and systematic information on the states of opinion with respect to the justice system existing in the country.

In order to achieve these objectives, the TAF, with SWS and the assistance of the Program Management Office (PMO) will conduct three Focus Group Discussion with judges, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and Alternative Law Groups.
