SUBJECT : Issuance of Newly Designed United States $100 Note Beginning March 25, 1996

The Federal Reserve System of the United States announced that the newly designed US $100 banknote will be issued beginning March 25, 1996. This will be the initial issue of a redesigned U.S. currency. The lower denominations will be introduced in subsequent years without recall or devaluation of any U.S. currency.

The newly designed currency is still distinctly recognized as American as many elements remain the same such as: color, size of the note, paper, historical figures, back illustrations, and the Motto "In God We Trust". The new features of the note are described in the enclosed brochure "Your Money Matters" from the Federal Reserve System.
