Savings Consciousness Year

CIRCULAR LETTER Series of 1997

TO : All Banking Institutions

Presidential Proclamation No. 1091 dated September 15, 1997 (copy attached) declares the period October 1, 1997 to September 30, 1998 a Savings Consciousness Year in order to promote a greater awareness in the minds of our people on the vital role of savings in the country's economic progress and development.

To ensure the successful observance of Savings Consciousness Year, relevant publicity and attention-generating activities from the banking sector will be essential elements thereof. All banking institutions and their branches, therefore, are enjoined to undertake during the said year such activities as raffles, distribution of give-aways, putting up of window and counter displays, streamers, ad placements and other relevant activities as may be appropriate for the successful launching of the Savings Consciousness Year. For purposes of a unified campaign, banks are also requested to incorporate the slogan "Our Savings . . . Our Children's Future" and the words "Savings Consciousness Year" in their promotional materials and print advertisements during the period.

All banks are enjoined to support the information and promotional campaigns of the National Commission on Savings during the period.
