REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE BUREAU OF INTERNAL REVENUE Quezon City January 22, 2010 REVENUE MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 8 - 2010 SUBJECT: Release of BIR Weekender Briefs and Other Publicationsof the BIR TO : All Revenue Officials and Others Concerned In line with the Bureau's thrust to disseminate information on major events and developments in the BIR, a new publication called, the BIR Weekender Briefs, shall be released every week. The BIR Weekender Briefs is the Bureau's official weekly e-newsletter that aims to provide revenuers and external stakeholders with a timely glimpse of events and developments arising in a particular week in the Bureau. Said publication shall contain photos (with short caption/description) of major events in the BIR, and shall be released every Friday by the Corporate Communications Division (CCD). To facilitate the preparation of the BIR Weekender Briefs, the Taxpayer Information and Education Division (TIED) shall automatically provide the CCD with soft/digital copy of selected photos of all events in the BIR (covered by TIED) within the following day from the date of the event. Moreover, all revenue officials are likewise enjoined to send to the CCD photos and details of current events happening in their office within the week that the event(s) occurred. The details should include the: a) name and date of the event; b) name of persons shown in the photo and c) short write up on the event/activity. The photos/details should be e-mailed to corp_com@bir.gov.ph not later than Thursday of every week, for it to be considered / included in the issue of the BIR Weekender Briefs to be released every Friday. Events featured in the BIR Weekender Briefs shall / may also be featured in the BIR Monitor prepared and released (via e-mail and BIR Website) by the CCD every 1st week of the month. Compared to the BIR Weekender Briefs, the BIR Monitor shall contain full-length articles (with photos) on major events/developments in the BIR. For events/developments that shall be selected for publication in the BIR Monitor, the CCD shall contact the concerned office/official to get more details/information for the writing of full-length article. Articles for Press Release prepared and released via e-mail by TIED shall also be included / featured in the monthly BIR Monitor.

All BIR officials and employees are advised to regularly check their e-mail and visit the BIR Website (www.bir.gov.ph) to get / access copies of the aforesaid publications, which they can use in disseminating information about changes and developments in tax administration to taxpayers and other external stakeholders (i.e. local press, AABs, etc.) of the Bureau.
