REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE BUREAU OF INTERNAL REVENUE Quezon City September 3, 2009 REVENUE MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 52 � 2009 TO : Assistant commissioners, Regional Directors, RDC Heads, Revenue District SUBJECT Officers and other officers concerned : Celebration of the 20th National Statistics Month in October, 2009 Pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 647 issued on September 20, 1990, declaring the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month, the 20th National Statistics Month (NSM) will be celebrated in October 2009. The overall theme for this year's celebration is "Enhancing Security Sector Statistics for Good Governance, Peace and Sustainable Development" with the objectives of promoting, enhancing and instilling nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society and eliciting the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country. The celebration is a nationwide event. All agencies of the government and their respective regions/field offices are enjoined to participate and support the celebration through various activities such as symposia, workshops, orientation seminars, exhibits, slide shows, and publication of statistical reports, indicators and other relevant information with particular emphasis on the theme. Each Revenue Regional and District Office is requested to provide their own NSM streamer to be displayed at their building fa�ade throughout the month of October. BIR employees may coordinate with the participating agencies n their respective areas for their specific activity that they may want to get involved in. Attached is the NSCB Memorandum Circular No. 01-09 as well as the NSM streamer format for your information and guidance. You are hereby encouraged to participate in the said activity.
