REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5676 - AN ACT CLARIFYING THE SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "THE REVISED BARRIO CHARTER", AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE SECTION TWENTY-SIX THEREOF.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Section twenty-six of Republic Act Numbered Thirty-five hundred and ninety, otherwise known as "The Revised Barrio Charter", is hereby amended to read as follows:

"SEC. 26. Extent of applicability ,—Notwithstanding the provisions of any city charter to the contrary, the foregoing provisions shall be made applicable only to such barrios within the jurisdiction of chartered cities as were existing before the enactment of this Act: Provided, however , That nothing in this Act shall be interpreted as abolishing any barrio existing in chartered cities before the enactment of this Act." SEC. 2. This Act shall have retroactive effect as of the twenty-second day of June, nineteen hundred and sixty- three.
