REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE BUREAU OF INTERNAL REVENUE March 3, 2010 REVENUE MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 17-2010 SUBJECT: Publishing the full text of Administrative Order No. 277-A entitled "Amending Section 2 of Administrative Order No. 277, TO : Series of 2010 Creating an Independent Committee to Review, Assess and Evaluate All the Important Smuggling and Tax Evasion Cases Handled by the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs" All Revenue Officials, Employees and Others Concerned ___________________________________________________________________ For the information and guidance of all internal revenue officers, employees and others concerned, quoted hereunder is the full text of Administrative Order No. 277-A issued by the President of the Republic of the Philippines on February 19, 2010. "ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 277-A AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 277, SERIES OF 2010 CREATING AN INDEPENDENT COMMITTEE TO REVIEW, ASSESS AND EVALUATE ALL THE IMPORTANT SMUGGLING AND TAX EVASION CASES HANDLED BY THE BUREAU OF INTERNAL REVENUE AND THE BUREAU OF CUSTOMS WHEREAS, Administrative Order No. 277 dated 29 January 2010, created the Independent Committee to review, assess and evaluate all the important smuggling and tax evasion cases handled by the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs; WHEREAS, under Section 31, Chapter 10, Title III, Book III of the Administrative Code of 1987, the President has the continuing authority to reorganize the administrative structure of the Office of the President; NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA M. ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order: 1
Section 1. Composition. � The composition of the Committee shall be amended such that it shall be composed of a retired member of the judiciary and two representatives each from the private sector and the media. Section 2. Repealing Clause. All other executive issuances, orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof which are inconsistent with the provisions of this Executive Order are hereby repealed or modified accordingly. Section 3. Effectivity. � This Executive Order shall take effect immediately. DONE in the City of Manila, this 19th of February in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Ten. (Sgd.) H.E.
