SUBJECT: SUSPENSION OF ATTY. DIONILO B. MANTOS FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW FOR ONE (1) YEAR
For your information and guidance, quoted hereunder is the Resolution dated 08 March 2017 of the Second Division in Administrative Case No. 10137, entitled "Cynthia O'Keefe-Helms v. Atty. Dionilo B. Mailtos," to wit:
WHEREFORE, the undated Motion for this Court to furnish respondent with an official copy of Resolution No. XX-2013.-497 of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Board of Governors is DENIED for utter lack of merit.
The Motion for reconsideration dated July 5, 2016 is likewise DENIED for lack of merit.
Respondent ATTY. DIONILO B. MANTOS is SUSPENDED from the practice of law for one (1) year. He is likewise WARNED that a repetition of similar acts shall be dealt with more severely.
The respondent, upon receipt of this Resolution, shall immediately serve his suspension. He shall formally manifest to this Court that his suspension has started, and copy furnish all courts and quasi-judicial bodies where he has entered his appearance, within five (5) days upon receipt of this Resolution. Respondent shall also serve copies of his manifestation on all adverse parties in all the cases he entered his formal appearance.
Let a copy of this Resolution be furnished the Office of the Bar Confidant to be attached to Atty. Dionilo B. Mantos's personal record. Copies of this Resolution should also be served on the Integrated Bar of the Philippines for its proper disposition, and the Office of the Court Administrator for circulation to all courts in the country.
As per Registry Return Receipt No. 4833, respondent received a copy of the aforesaid Resolution on 18 May 2017.
In a Resolution dated 13 June 2018, the Court DENIED WITH FINALITY the respondent's Motion for Reconsideration as no substantial matters were raised to warrant its reconsideration.
This Circular amends OCA Circular No. 14-2018 dated 29 January 2018.
