SUBJECT : LIFTING OF SUSPENSION FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW FOR ONE (1) YEAR AND SIX (6) MONTHS OF ATTY. JIMMY P. BAUGA
For your information and guidance, quoted hereunder is the Resolution of the Second Division dated 24 February 2016 in Administrative Case No. 5377, entitled "Victor C. Lingan vs. Attys. Romeo Calubaquib and Jimmy P. Baliga," to wit:
Acting on respondent Atty. Jimmy P. Baliga's urgent manifestation dated 1 February 2016 for the lifting of order of suspension pursuant to the Resolution dated 15 June 2006 which suspended respondent Atty. Baliga for one (1) year from the practice of law for violation of Rule 1.01, Canon 1 of the Code of Professional Responsibility and Lawyer's Oath and revoked with disqualification from re-appointment as notaries public for two (2) years, and the Resolution dated 17 February 2010 which suspended again respondent Atty. Baliga from the practice of law for another six (6) months for failure to comply with his order of suspension in the Resolution dated 15 June 2006, and considering that respondent Atty. Baliga's compliance with the Resolution dated 30 June 2014, stating that his suspension commenced from 1 August 2014 to 31 January 2016 while his order of disqualification from being commissioned as notary public commenced on 1 August 2014 until 1 August 2016; that he already fully served his suspension from the practice of law per certification attached therein; and that based on the records submitted, respondent Atty. Baliga has fully served his suspension from the practice of law, the Court resolves to LIFT the order of suspension from the practice of law of respondent Atty. Jimmy P. Baliga for a total period of one (1) year and six (6) months as mandated in the Resolution dated 15 June 2006 and 30 June 2014, and ALLOW respondent to resume his practice of law.
