SUBJECT: PROPER FEES TO BE COLLECTED IN ELECTION CONTESTS INVOLVING ELECTIVE MUNICIPAL AND BARANGA Y OFFICIALS

Pursuant to the Resolution dated 2 September 2014 of the Court En Banc in A.M. No. 14-08-94-MeTC, the following guidelines shall govern the collection of fees in election contests involving elective Municipal and Barangay officials:

i. Section 1, Rule 7 of the Rules of Procedure in Election Contests Before the Courts Involving Elective Municipal and Barangay Officials (A.M. No. 07-4-15-SC) dated 15 May 2007, shall strictly apply insofar as the proper collection of filing fees is concerned;

ii. other assessments for Legal Research Fund (LRF), Sheriffs Trust Fund (STF), Victim's Compensation Fund (VCF) and Mediation Fund shall be collected in election contests;

iii. the Php 3,000.00 filing fee for election contests shall be allocated to the account of the Special Allowance for the Judiciary (SAJ); and

iv. postal money orders are not acceptable as a mode of payment of filing fees.
