REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE BUREAU OF INTERNAL REVENUE Quezon City September 6, 2005 REVENUE MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 51-2005 TO : Assistant Commissioners, Regional Directors, RDC Heads, Revenue District Officers and other officers concerned SUBJECT : Celebration of the 16th National Statistics Month in October 2005 To promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society and to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country, Presidential Proclamation No. 647 was issued on September 20, 1990 declaring the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month. The 16th National Statistics Month (NSM) will be celebrated in October, 2005 and the overall theme for this year's celebration is "Modernizing Agriculture and Fishery through Quality Statistics" or "Makabuluhang Estadistika � Gabay sa Pagpapalawak ng Makabagong Agrikultura at Pangingisda." The celebration is a nationwide event and all government agencies and their respective regions/field offices are requested to join in the celebration. Activities may be undertaken in accordance with the capabilities of the agencies/regions. These may be in the form of symposia, workshops, orientation seminars, exhibits, slide shows and publication of statistical reports, indicators and their relevant information with particular emphasis on the theme and the agency's/region's selected sub-theme , if any. Each Revenue Regional and District Office is requested to provide their own NSM streamer to be displayed at their building fa�ade throughout the month of October. BIR employees may coordinate with the participating agencies in their respective areas for their specific activity that they may want to get involved in.
