AUTHORIZING THE ATTENDANCE OF THE JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT, SELECTED JUSTICES OF THE COURT OF APPEALS AND SANDIGANBAYAN, SELECTED OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE SUPREME COURT AND SELECTED REGIONAL TRIAL COURT JUDGES AT THE NATIONAL CONSULTATIVE SUMMIT ONEXTRAJUDICIAL KILLINGS AND ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCES - SEARCHING FOR SOLUTIONS

WHEREAS, the Supreme Court is sponsoring the National Consultative Summit on Extrajudiciai Killings and Enforced Disappearances - Searching for Solutions on 16 and 17 July 2007, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, at the Manila Hotel, Roxas Blvd., Manila.

WHEREAS, the Summit aims to search for wholistic solutions and provide inputs for the Supreme Court in its objective of enhancing existing rules, or promulgating new ones, both adjudicative and non-adjudicative, in the protection and enforcement of constitutional rights, including the protection of witnesses; examine the concept of extrajudiciai killings and enforced disappearances pursuant to the standards provided for by local and international laws, including United Nations instruments; revisit the rules of evidence such as hearsay, circumstantial, forensic, and the like, as well as rules on police investigations and evidence gathering; and explore more remedies for the aggrieved parties aside from the writ of habeas corpus.

WHEREFORE, IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING, the following are authorized to attend the above-mentioned activity:
