ATTENDANCE OF JUSTICES AND JUDGES AND OFFICIALS OF THE SUPREME COURT IN THE SILVER JUBILEE CONFERENCE OF THE ASEAN LAW ASSOCIATION

WHEREAS, in its Resolution of 11 October 2005 in A.M. No. 05-10-07-SC, the Supreme Court En Banc"authorized the attendance of all incumbent Justices of the Supreme Court (15), Sandiganbayan (13) and Court of Tax Appeals (6) and all the Court of Appeals division chairperson (23) as well as the executive judges in Metro Manila and officials of the Supreme Court" at the Silver Jubilee Conference oftheAsean Law Association (ALA) to be held from 24 to 27 November 2005 at the Shangri-la-Makati Hotel. The Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Sandiganbayan, and the Court of Tax Appeals shall pay for their respective members' registration fees at P3,000 per participant. The Supreme Court shall also pay for the registration fees of the executive judges in Metro Manila and of the officials of the Supreme Court.

WHEREAS, the Court En Banc further authorized the attendance in said conference of all members of the Judiciary other than those mentioned above.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Chief Justice hereby REQUESTS (a) the Clerks of Court of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Sandiganbayan, and the Court of Tax Appeals to coordinate with the organizing committee of the ALA to facilitate and expedite the registration of, and the payment of the registration fees for, the members of their respective courts authorized to attend the conference; (b) the Clerk of Court of the Supreme Court to coordinate with the executive judges in Metro Manila to ensure their participation and to pay for their registration fees on behalf of the Court; and (c) the Clerk of Court of the Supreme Court and Chief Administrative Officer to prepare a list of court officials not exceeding twenty (20) who will attend the conference.

Other Members of the Judiciary in first and second Level courk who would wish to attend the conference at their expense, but on official time, should inform the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) not later than 15 November 2005 of their participation in the conference. They should adjust their respective calendars and seasonably notify lawyers and litigants whose cases have to be postponed because of such participation.

This Administrative Circular shall take effect upon its issuance.
