:SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION ENTITLED: "ARBITRATION 2001: A CREATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION ALTERNATIVE"

A seminar on international commercial arbitration, with the theme "Arbitration 2001: A Creative Dispute Resolution Alternative, " will be held on 26 July 2001, from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., at the New World Renaissance Hotel, under the joint sponsorship of the International Chamber of Commerce Philippines, Inc., [ICCP] and the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc., [PDRCI] in cooperation with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch).

This seminar is both relevant and timely in view of the Supreme Court's unrelenting efforts to put into action alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to help dispose of case backlog in the Judiciary.

In his letter of 3 July 2001 to Atty. Ismael G. Khan, Jr., Assistant Court Administrator and Chief of the Public Information Office of the Supreme Court, Atty. Custodio O. Parlade, President of the PDRCI, is inviting the Executive Judges of the Regional Trial Courts in the National Judicial Region to said seminar and is waiving the collection of the attendance fee of P5,000 per participant.

WHEREFORE, all Executive Judges of the Regional Trial Courts in the National Capital Judicial Region are hereby AUTHORIZED to attend said seminar on OFFICIAL TIME ; and b) DIRECTED to submit to the Office of the Chief Justice through Office of the Court Administrator, within ten (10) days from the seminar their respective individual reports on their attendance and the applicability of the international commercial arbitration mechanism, to the cases before their courts.

The Acting Court Administrator shall implement this administrative circular.
