SUBJECT: CELEBRATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS WEEK

Presidential Proclamation No. 177 dated 30 October 1987 declares the period from December 3 to 10 of every year as "National Human Right We."In a letter dated 27 October 2000 addressed to Chief Justice Hilario G Davide, Jr., Chairman Aurora P. Navarette Recina of the Komisyon ng Karapatang Pantao has requested the active participation of all government officials and employees in the weeklong celebration this year with focus on the theme “Isulong ang Karapatan ng Katutubong Pilipino!”

In support of the celebration of Human Rights Week 2000 and with the end in view of enhancing public awareness on and understanding of human rights judges and personnel of the lower courts may participate or engage in activities undertaken by the regional offices of the Komisyon ng Karapatang Pantao , the local government units and non-government organizations concerning human rights provided such activities they do not interfere with or impair the performance of their judicial or court duties.
