SUBJECT: SUSPENSION OF ATTY. NICANOR C. ALVAREZ FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW FOR ONE (1) YEAR
For your information and guidance, quoted hereunder is the Decision dated 20 April 2016 of the Second Division in Administrative Case No. 9018, entitled "Teresita P. Fajardo v. Atty. Nicanor C. Alvarez," to wit:
WHEREFORE, Respondent Atty. Nicanor C. Alvarez is guilty of violating the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, the Lawyer's Oath, and the Code of Professional Responsibility. He is SUSPENDED from the practice of law for one (1) year with a WARNING that a repetition of the same or similar acts shall be dealt with more severely. Respondent is ORDERED to return the amount of P500,000.00 with legal interest to complainant Teresita P. Fajardo.
Respondent received on 13 April 2017 the Resolution dated 8 March 2017 of the Court which DENIED with FINALITY respondent's motion for reconsideration of the Decision dated 20 April 2016.
