SUBJECT:
LAUNCHING OF THE ACCESS TO JUSTICE NETWORK OF THE ACCESS TO JUSTICE FOR THE POOR PROJECT
WHEREAS , the Access to justice for the Poor Project (Project) funded by the European Commission will hold an Access to Justice Network (AJN) Launching in all project sites, namely, Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Sur, Capiz, Lanao del Norte, and Sultan Kudarat in July 2008.
WHEREAS , this is the culminating activity of the Project which is participated in |y the Supreme Court (SC), Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Justice, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and fie Alternative Law Groups, Inc.
WHEREAS , the AJN is a multi-stakeholder network of service providers in the provincial, municipal, and barangay levels, whose main functions are information dissemination, limited policy making/policy advocacy, continuing education, and a venue for discussion of issues related to access to justice by the poor particularly pmen and children.
WHEREAS a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the DILG, the lead ;i ncy of the AjN, and the SC as a means to safeguard the judiciary's independence integrity has been drafted by the SC-Technical Working Group (TWG) and submitted to the SC En Bane on 27 April 2008 for its approval.
WHEREAS , the approval of the draft MOA is still pending, hence, the participation the judges and Municipal Court Information Officers (MClOs) of the project sites all be limited to being observers to the said event as well as to distribute the -udiciary's Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
WHEREAS , the following are the dates and venues of the launching:
