SUBJECT : LIFTING OF SUSPENSION FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW FOR SIX (6) MONTHS OF ATTY. BASIUO C. ALMAZAN, JR.

For your information and guidance, quoted hereunder is the Resolution dated 26 August 2015 of the Court (Second Division) in A.C. No. 7485, entitled "Teodolfo N. Lasconia vs. Atty. Basilio C. Almazan, Jr.," to wit:

Acting on the letter-compliance dated 2 June 2015 filed by respondent Atty. Basilio C. Almazan, Jr. relative to the Resolution dated 12 March 2012 which suspended respondent from the practice of law for six (6) months effective upon notice for gross negligence and representing conflicting interest, and the Resolution dated 2 April 2014 which required respondent to submit a certification from the IBP Local Chapter where he is affiliated that he had ceased and desisted from the practice of law during his period of suspension and held in abeyance the lifting of the order of suspension until his submission of the required certification, and that in compliance therewith, respondent submitted Certification dated 27 May 2015 from the IBP Isabela Chapter affirming that respondent had not appeared in courts and had desisted from the practice of law since 19 April 2013 up to 19 October 2013 and even up to present, and considering that the aforesaid documents submitted by respondent evidencing full service of the six-month suspension are considered as substantial compliance with the Resolution dated 12 March 2012, the Court resolves to LIFT the order of suspension from the practice of law for six (6) months meted against Atty. Basilio C. Almazan and ALLOW him to RESUME his practice of law.
