SUBJECT : SUSPENSION FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW FOR SIX (6) MONTHS OF ATTY. HERNANDO CORTES

For your information and guidance, quoted hereunder is the dispositive portion of the Resolution of the Second Division dated 01 October 2012 in Administrative Case No. 7100 entitled " Atty. Amelia C. Garchitorena, et al. vs. Atty. Hernando Cortes," to wit:

The Court RESOLVES to ADOPT and APPROVE the findings of fact, conclusions of law, and recommendations of the Investigating Commissioner in the attached Report dated 28 March 2008 (Annex "A") as approved [with modification] by the Board of Governors of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in IBP Resolution No. VXIII-2008-231 dated 22 May 2008. Accordingly, the Court SUSPENDS Atty. Hernando Cortes from the practice of law for six (6) months from notice.

In a Resolution dated 12 August 2013, the Court further DENIED with FINALITY the respondent's motion for reconsideration for lack of merit. Respondent both received the Resolutions dated 01 October 2012 and 07 November 2012 on 15 October 2013 and 07 November 2012 respectively.
